The Woman Who Bleed
for Twelve Years
2
And
a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no
one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak,
and immediately her bleeding stopped. (Luke 8:43-44)
3
Many
people were waiting for Jesus.
Wherever
Jesus went, the crowd came along with him.
4
Some
of them wanted to hear Jesus preaching about the gospel of heaven.
Some
of them wanted Jesus to heal their diseases.
5
One
of the women of the crowd had a great wish.
This
woman had suffered from a secret disease for many years.
The
disease had to do with bleeding a lot.
6
She
had tried to heal her illness for a long time.
She
had gone to many doctors to make her healed.
She
had wasted a lot of money but all of the doctors could not heal her.
7
Finally,
the woman came to Jesus to see if he could make her well after twelve years
of suffering. Could this be the answer to her problem?
8
Jesus
came to the crowd of many people.
They
welcomed Jesus, for they were all expecting him.
She
was also waiting for a chance to meet Jesus.
9
However,
the woman did not have the courage to get close to Jesus.
Then
a man named Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came and fell at Jesus' feet,
pleading with him to come to his house. So they were on their way to his
house in a hurry.
10
Meanwhile,
many people began to press against Jesus.
The
woman came alongside Jesus, too.
But
the woman still did not have the courage.
11
She
thought, 'Jesus may know everything about me even if I do not have the
courage.
If
I could just only touch
the edge of his cloak, I will be healed of my sickness.'
12
And
then the woman came up behind Jesus and her hand touched Jesus' cloak without
anyone knowing.
13
At
the moment of touching the edge of his cloak, she knew that her body became
lighter and that something had changed in her body.
Immediately her
bleeding had stopped.
14
Then
Jesus stopped and asked,
"Who
touched me?¡±Jesus knew someone had touched his cloak.
15
But
the people all denied it. Peter said,
"Master, the people
are crowding and pressing against you.
You
must have only felt that."
16
Jesus
continued, "No,
someone has touched me.
I
know that power has gone out from me."
She
knew that she could no longer hide herself.
17
Then
the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at
his feet.
In
the presence of all the people, she explained why she had touched him and how
she had been instantly healed.
18
Jesus
praised her faith and said, "Daughter, your faith has healed you.
Go
in peace." She was healed by her faith.
19
Jesus
knew her heart even though she did not say directly. Seeing her faith, Jesus
let her be healed. Jesus can see our faith. Jesus knows what we need and he
can solve all of our problems. Therefore, we should leave our problems with
Jesus like the woman and be faith-believing people.
